Derby fine Mason Bennett and Tom Lawrence and hand pair community service orders

Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett have been fined six weeks wages by Derby and awarded 80 hour community service orders.
The sanctions are such as breaking a club curfew and bringing the team into disrepute – following the group have been included in that which Derby described as analcohol-related incident last week.
Midfielder Lawrence, 25, and forward Bennett, 23, were charged with drink-driving following a crash at the Allestree region of Derby.
A Derby statement :D erby County Football Club has completed the disciplinary hearing seeing Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett in respect of the participation in the events of last Tuesday evening, which led to both of them being arrested and scheduled to appear in court on October 15th.
Regardless of the outcome of the process, the team wont tolerate any of its staff or players behaving in a manner which puts themselves, their coworkers, and members of the public at risk of injury or worse, or which attracts the club into disrepute.
Both the Lawrence and Bennett are consequently being fined the equivalent of six weeks wages – the maximum statutory limitation – and also will serve an extra 80 hours of community and rehabilitation, which will have a drink aware course.
The team will be making no additional comment regards this issue.
Bennett explained:On the night of Tuesday 24th September, I made huge mistakes after consuming alcohol.
What I did was incorrect.
Being a footballer, along with also someone who young fans appear to, I understand the example I set is crucial. I am humiliated.
At 23 I am old , and I was drawn up, to know better.
I know that such activities have severe consequences. I accept the punishment that the club has already issued and take responsibility for my actions.
I must, and will, find out from such types of events and will strive to become a much better person.
Theres no explanation for what I have done. I am sorry to my loved ones, my friends, the clubDerby supporters and into the wider football community, so that I let you all down.
